STRATZER / Design and Planning / Layout of the ‘Grand Marché’
Design and implementation of the waste management system for a public market
Québec City has restored a former industrial building in order to relocate the former Old Port market (‘Grand Marché’). The City called upon Stratzer to implement an innovative and optimized waste management system. An evaluation of the waste deposits was first carried out in order to establish the volumes required for the various collections. Then, scenarios were discussed with the project team considering construction and operation constraints. The Solucycle technology for the recovery of organic materials, which operates by grinding and channelling to an underground tank, was implemented. Stratzer accompanied Quebec City from the project design to the actual installation of the equipment.
