Stratzer performs research on flexible plastics in Quebec and Ontario

Carrying out market studies and researching sources and outlets are among the key activities through which Stratzer contributes to the circular economy in Canada.  

Recently, Stratzer performed several studies of this kind, including a market study on LDPE plastics for Modix Plastique. LDPE plastics are a type of flexible plastic used in the production of packaging and plastic bags. The aim of the study was to identify post-consumer LDPE plastic quantities available in Quebec and Ontario, to carry out a regulatory analysis in these two provinces, and to research potential users of recycled LDPE in Quebec and neighbouring provinces. A portrait of the players in the value chain also enabled Modix Plastique to identify potential buyers and better understand the competition for this type of flow.  

The tasks carried out by Stratzer during this mandate included research and analysis of data on the marketing and collection of post-consumer plastics, interviews with provincial public and private organizations, in particular related to extended producer responsibility and selective collection, and interviews with plastic producers in Quebec and Ontario who could use recycled LDPE plastic.    

 Modix Plastique manufactures high-quality LDPE (low-density polyethylene) resins by operating a full treatment of post-consumer LDPE plastic films collected by sorting and recycling centers and other sources, mainly in Quebec and throughout North America. Thanks to this study, Modix has been able to better understand where the potential for development lies in Canada.
