STRATZER / Municipal Services / Waste Management Action plan for Aboriginal communities
Eeyou Istchee Regional Waste Management Study
At the request of the Cree Nation Government (CNG), Stratzer carried out a large-scale project which consisted in developing a waste management action plan for each of the nine Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee (James Bay). Because of the particular challenges faced by the Aboriginal communities in remote areas, Stratzer was able to develop a concerted approach in addition to defining the waste management needs of each community. The analysis focused on issues related to transportation, governance and the management of certain more problematic materials, such as construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
