Residual materials traceability : TRAC3R

Waste management practices in the construction industry are poorly understood, leaving room for unorthodox and even illegal methods. The TRAC3R traceability system provides a clearer picture, certifying the movement of construction and demolition (C&D) waste and shedding light on the management practices of the players involved. This field-tested system combines Stratzer‘s expertise in waste management with that of Optel, an internationally renowned firm for traceability solutions.

Data collected via the TRAC3R web application is centralized on a portal, enabling real-time tracking of movements. Any irregularities can be quickly identified and addressed. The system also captures valuable data such as C&D waste tonnages and load composition, with photos.

“As the voice of private expertise in the green economy, the Council of Businesses in Environmental Technologies (‘CETEQ’) is well aware of the issues involved in the management of C&D residues. The lack of traceability encourages certain companies to dispose of C&D residues illegally or to store them excessively, thereby compromising the environment and public safety. Establishing traceability is essential to building a strong, structured and more circular C&D sector.
Kevin Morin, General Manager, CETEQ “

Support for eco-responsible building design

Responsible waste management doesn’t stop at the construction site. It must also be part of the design process. Indeed, various choices can be made upstream, and have a significant impact on the generation of residues and, more broadly, on a building’s environmental footprint. Stratzer offers design support, including the choice of materials and various design and construction criteria. Training courses are also offered to help architects, project managers and clients make the right choices to limit the amount of waste generated throughout a building’s life cycle.

Construction management plan

Stratzer offers support to customers wishing to ensure maximum recovery of construction and demolition (C&D) residues through proper planning of worksite operations. The design and implementation of a C&D Waste Management Plan enables us to organize the various collections and equipment required depending on the C&D waste generated during each stage of a construction project.

Stratzer’s expertise in this field will enable the customer to effectively reach its recovery objectives, knowing that each worksite is different and that each region has its specificities in terms of collection and processing options. The approach deployed can also earn points towards LEED certification, which requires the sorting of C&D residues.

Contaminated soil traceability

Argus Environnement inc. offers a soil traceability certification service (Traces Québec) as well as a training program to help you better understand the requirements of soil traceability regulations.

Since November 2021, the traceability of excavated contaminated soils is mandatory through the use of Traces QuĂ©bec.  This traceability system is governed by the QuĂ©bec’s regulations on traceability of contaminated soil (RĂšglement concernant la traçabilitĂ© des sols contaminĂ©s excavĂ©s) (LQE, Q-2, r.47.01).

Argus Environnement inc. can support you in your work and offers a soil traceability certification service. A training program has also been developed regarding the new regulatory requirements for transportation of contaminated soil.
