Waste Characterization and analysis of waste management performance of schools
The Council of Public Schools of Eastern Ontario (âCEPEOâ, in French) asked Stratzer to carry out a portrait of waste management in its institutions. After sorting and characterizing the waste at the head office and twelve schools, Stratzer identified actions to improve recovery rates. These include awareness measures regarding the materials accepted in each waste bin. The analysis also highlighted the need to improve the collection of organics and to set up special collections for waste streams not included in curbside recycling, such as textiles and toys.
