Characterization of construction waste at transfer stations, the curbside and construction yards

The City of Montreal has mandated Stratzer to draw a portrait of construction and demolition (C&D) waste as well as bulky items collected by three services: transfer stations (eco-centers), at the curbside and in municipal road construction depots. A rigorous sampling plan was developed to cover all sources and sectors of the City. Stratzer’s technicians coordinated with the truck arrivals to avoid lost time. A total of 107 samples and over 2.5 tonnes of C&D waste were characterized by collection stream and borough of origin.
