Evaluation of alternatives for the recovery of fine particles from C&D waste sorting centers

An association of construction and demolition (C&D) waste recyclers (3RMCDQ) has mandated Stratzer to carry out a vast study concerning the evaluation of alternatives for the recovery of fine particles produced in sorting centers for C&D waste. Along with its partner, the Center for technological transfer in industrial ecology (CTTÉI), Stratzer first conducted a portrait of current practices in Quebec, including more than twenty field visits. To this was added a characterization of fine particles as well as several physicochemical analyses. For the first time in North America, an exhaustive portrait was produced for this waste stream. The portrait allowed for the definition of several potential recovery channels, which were developed in the form of fact sheets and compared through an effort/benefit analysis.
